Intensive English Review

Intensive English ReviewIntensive English (sometimes abbreviated to IET) is a form of short intensive English course. Intensive means that it is short in length, while academic means that it is a short course designed to instruct students on a subject matter or skill. In the course, one will learn about a number of topics that are often not studied in class and also receive instruction on how to properly use a writing tool. It should be noted that this is not an online type of course because you would have an instructor, whereas with an online course, the student receives help from other students via the internet. The first three Intensive English courses were created by Anne Donaghy and Phyllis Ferris. The syllabus for each of these courses was recently released and has helped to give students a look at what they might expect when they take the next Intensive English course. Many students took the opportunity to comment on what they thought of the courses and what topics they may hav e to discuss in the future. The first Intensive English course will provide students with topics that range from business management, psychology, English, philosophy, English literature, and critical thinking. The syllabus states that it is intended to give students the basics in their chosen field and will help to teach them to master and use different skills such as research, organization, and presentation. Topics discussed during the course include basic grammar, how to write a thesis, sentence structure, essay form, argumentation, and essay structure. These topics can be learned while working at home.Another Intensive English course is named a discursive essay topics. It is designed to give students a chance to become familiar with issues that are often used in the workplace. Students will learn about public speaking, brainstorming, successful interviews, and written communication techniques.Students who want to learn about self-expression can take the essay topics on art appreci ation, English and American Literature, and Creative Writing. There is an introduction to class that provides a framework for students to begin to understand the topics being taught. Discursive essays will also be discussed throughout the course and many students found that the instruction provided helped them to better understand the skills that they need to utilize when composing their own essay. Some students who took the BSC series found that the review session was helpful. While the course was primarily designed to help students master the skills that are needed for writing a discursive essay, it also provided a way for them to get their questions answered. This helped to keep the course fresh and new as students continued through it.The most recent Intensive English course was a course called A Multilevel Analysis of Discursive Essay Topics. The syllabus explained that this course is aimed at providing students with information on all of the topics covered in the previous class es. The course includes an introduction, the topic of discursive essay, essay analysis, and writing a research paper. Each of the topics are explained and the class gives a breakdown of the material that a student's needs are. Most topics were found to be common sense and are usually what students have already been taught in English 101. One notable exception was the essay analysis section which required students to follow a specific format for analysis in order to receive credit for the written essay.
